Happy St. Patricks Day!

Being the self proclaimed Irish Princess that I am, I recently found myself counting down the days until today. I found myself eating corned beef and cabbage wherever I could find it, and taking pictures of beer on my free time. I guess you could say that St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays. Growing up in Cleveland, which had a very heavy Irish population, I learned the ways of today at a young age. The adults skip out of work early, or don't even go, along with the kids. Growing up St. Patrick's Day was the #1 highest skip day in school. Everybody in Cleveland would get their green garb, jump on the train, and make it down town just in time to see three minutes of the parade. Then after you were able to say you "saw" the parade, you ran a muck in the city keeping close eye on the time so that you didn't miss 5pm train back home to be just in time for 6pm dinner with the whole Irish family. My childhood was fun! Now I live in Chicago, and it almost seems just as crazy, if not worse....or better! Chicago celebrates on Saturday predominately. I started getting phone calls and text messages at 6am from my friends, making sure I was up and ready to go. Chicago is similar in Cleveland, in having a parade, but Chicago takes their celebration up a notch. They start their celebration off with dying the Chicago River Green. Yes, I know, the river is green EVERY DAY! But on St. Patrick's Day, it is florescent Kelly Irish green. It is awesome! Chicago turns in to a green Irish crazy town, just like Cleveland. So from Cleveland in my heart, and Chicago from my home...Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!
