Money buys jobs?

So I just returned from an interview for a summer side gig here in Chicago. I went to this photographer's 2 million dollar mansion for the interview. I quickly realized I was in an entirely new ball game. As I entered the home, I met his beautiful wife, and daughter that were coloring in the kitchen, celebrating and talking about Earth Day. They were very nice and precious. I proceeded to go to the studio, in the finished basement of the enormous home, just to be blown away at the sheer amount of equipment, and monstrosity of flat screen tv/monitors that this photographer called his computer. We sat down and started talking about photography equipment, and the industry, and such things, which is when I quickly realized this man had not been in the business very long by the way he was describing things, and his lack of knowledge of such things, one being medium format. Call me a snob, but I am. As our conversation proceeded, he revealed, to me that he used to be a publisher for magazines. He didn't specify, but he did mention that he worked with BMW a lot. And he has only been "playing" with photography for about a year and a half. BINGO! I win. Publisher, with a TON of money, and a TON of contacts, and a TON of expensive equipment is now getting jobs with the city of Chicago. UGH! I am obviously just venting out of jealousy right now. I am always amazed what money can buy you. I have worked with many very talented photographers, that have started with nothing and worked their way up, and that is exactly what I am doing now. And I would be lying if I said that it didn't infuriate me when I see rich people that are bored, taking jobs away from people that are working everyday of their existence to make it in this industry. I guess I can just go back to my favorite phrase...

"Everybody is a photographer, now that we have digital"

Ok, I'm done venting....we will see where this leads.
